The Education & Information Committee works to enhance educational & informational materials, as well as the communication process, amongst all parties. (Education & Information Committee: Karman Fayant - Co-Chair, Harold Ross - Co-Chair, Shirley Benson, Judy Cabay, Robert Deresh - Ex-Officio, Annette Ozirny, Ajas Quraishi, Kathryn Wiebe) Education & Information Committee - What We DoThe Education & Information Committee (E&I) is a standing committee of LICA. Each committee shall report its activities and requests to the Board for approval. Purpose:- The E&I will; Develop informational and promotional material for the association as required, plan, coordinate and facilitate outreach activities and special events.
Objectives:- Increase awareness of LICA within the LICA area.
- Promote LICA and its committees to the community, industry and municipalities that live and work within its boundaries.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:- Establish a budget for E&I operations for Board approval
- Make regular written and/or oral reports to the Board
- Act as a resource to the LICA administrator, Board, and committees
- Identify opportunities to develop community awareness within LICA
- Develop clear, consistent public information, and standardize all presentation and promotional materials
- Work closely with the Board, committees, and LICA Executive Manager to ensure that media releases, reports, and brochures are accurate and congruent with LICA's vision and mission
- Facilitate, develop and format the annual report, newsletters, brochures, reports and other information documents as required
- Review the Board Education & Information strategy annually and make recommendations to the Board regarding revisions by June of each year
- Review the LICA website and provide feedback to the Administration
- Create standards for annual report: accountants engagement report and statement of Operations and change in Net Assets; list the Board of Directors listed and Committee Chairs
Membership:- Chair of the LICA Board may attend as ex-officio
- Up to five (5) community members may be appointed by the Board
- At least one member of the committee must be a board member
- Additional members may choose to participate on a regular basis, but shall not receive remuneration or expenses from LICA
- Industry members, NGO's and Regulators
Meetings:- Meetings may be held as required, at the LICA office or a more convenient location as determined by the committee
- All meetings will be open to the public
- Chair and Vice Chair are elected by committee membership on an annual basis
Resources, Expenses & Budget:- The E&I shall have access to the resources of the LICA office and Executive Manager including phone, fax, e-mail, paper, etc., as required
- The E&I shall have an annual operating budget to be administered through the LICA office
Reporting Process:- LICA Board will be provided with copies of committee meeting minutes, and E&I Chair's report.
- An annual E&I report will be submitted to the Board
Evaluation:- The E&I shall review its Terms of Reference and evaluate its objectives at least annually.
